How to Create Stone Text in Photoshop for beginners

Create Stone Text Effect in Photoshop is the Tutorial I would share today. Our Text Effect will look like realistic stone. Actually our inspiration is from ancient stone, like rocks from the mountain.

To learn this Create Stone Text Effect in Photoshop Tutorial, we will learn about some of Photoshop Technic and use of Blending Options tool.

How to Create Stone Text in Photoshop for beginners :

• STEP 1

The first step of How to Create Stone Text in Photoshop is, make the New Document or New Worksheet by clicking Ctrl + N.

Then you need to set the New Worksheet size, in here I am using 1200 x 800 pixels. But you can use other size as you want.

After that click on Text Tool (T).  And choose the big font type or wide surface font type, for an example is the font type I use, that is font supcell-magic. And the font size is 24 pt. Then press on Ctrl + Enter, if you have finished writing.

And automatically the Text layer is created.

Step 1

• STEP 2 - Give the Blending Options Effect

The second step of How to Create Stone Text in Photoshop is, use a right click on Text Layer > choose Blending Options. In this Blending Options we will set the lighting, color, and the other effect. The first, we will set :

Bevel & Emboss

This Bevel & Emboss is to give the 3 dimension effect on the text, to make it fuller. 

Step 2.0

Choose Texture in the Sub Level in Bevel and Emboss section. Click on Pattern > then find the Pattern with a name Stone. Then place in the Rock pattern category.

For the Scale set 75 %.

Depth +2.

Step 2.1

Inner Shadow

The function if Inner Shadow is to make Shadow effect inside the Stone Text. Set the size :

• Blend Mode > Multiply > Black
• Opacity is 41%
• Angle 90 degree
• Size 8 px.

Step 2.2

Drop Shadow 

Drop Shadow is the opposite of Inner Shadow. The function is give the Shadow in the object outside.The setting is :

• Blend Mode > Multiply > Black
• Opacity is 44%
• Distance 5px and Size 5px

Step 2.3

Satin

The function of Satin is give the random color in the Text field. You can set as you want. 

Step 2.4

Color Overlay 

The function of Color Overlay is will give the color on the Text. To make the color is neutral, we will give the Grey color. And the Opacity is 100%. On the next step is , will give the color like a Stone. 

Step 2.5

Then click on OK button. Look at the result , the result will be like in the picture below.

• STEP 3

The third step of illustrator Tutorials for beginners step by step is, Make the New Layer above the Text Layer. Give the name as you want. This Layer will give the form dominance in the Text . Then continue.

The next is you need to active on Tekstur Batu Layer. After that hold the Ctrl button, beside that click on Text Layer. Then will show up the Selection line.

• STEP 4

The fourth step of illustrator Tutorials for beginners step by step is, ensure the Foreground color is #dbdbdb and the Background is #7d582e on the toolbox. Then you need to choose Filter menu > Render > Clouds. Immediately, the text will fill up with a blend of colors that we choose before and will look like Cloud shape.

The fifth step of Illustrator Tutorials 2018 is, choose Filter menu > Texture > choose Craqueluer. And give the Crack Spacing 36, Crack depth 5, Crack Brightness 1.

Then you need to continue change the Blending mode to the Overlay.

To add more Realistic effect is, add more Metal Abstract effect. You can search on Google image or Internet. Then insert on Photoshop. And place the Effect Layer above all Layer. Look at the picture below.

Then use a right click on Metal Texture Layer > choose Create Clipping Mask. And change the Blend mode to the Overlay.

Step 6

And the result will be like in the picture below :
