Create Double Exposure Photo Effect in Photoshop

Hello, how are you ?. Today we will discuss about Double Exposure. What is Double Exposure is a technique for combining two photo or picture to the 1 photo to make photo more beautiful.

But What is Double Exposure Effect in Photography ? , is a photographic technique thats combine two different image into one image. This technique has been praticed for several years, and it became very famous recently. 

Ok, that is the meaning of Double Exposure. And now I will give Photoshop Tutorial about How to edit Double Exposure in Photoshop.

Before starting to edit Photo, I will show the result of Double Exposure editing first. This is the result.

If you want to make photo result like the picture above. Let's follow our Tutorial Double Exposure in Photoshop. Please follow our tutorial step by step. And prepare your Adobe Photoshop, and 2 image. 

How to Create Double Exposure Photo Effect in Photoshop :

1. Prepare 2 photo

Prepare two Photo ( minimum) which is we will combine using Double Exposure technique. The first image are model image ( face, human, animal ), the second image is panoramic image ( the city , the mountain, or anything ). In here I am using New York city. 

2. Start to Edit

Open the model photo to the photoshop. And start to selection to the model object using Magic Wand tool (W), then click Ctrl + Shift + I, to reverse selection object result. After all object has selected click Ctrl + J, to duplicate the selection.

3. Give a Color on Background

Make a new Layer by clickyng Create New Layer icon just above Background Layer, then give a White color by using Paint Bucket Tool ( G).

4. Insert New York City image by dragging and drop. Then click Ctrl + T , and change the rotation to -90 degree , after that click enter.

5. Hold the Ctrl button on keyboard then point the cursor to the Image Model Layer (object ). So the cursor shaped like a white hand, and click , then automatically the selection will resembles model (object) shape.

6. Add Mask Layer by pressing Add vector Mask icon, then the picture will be like the picture below.

7. Move the Layer model just above New York City Layer then click Add Vector Mask Icon. As in the sixth step.

8. Activate Brush tool ( B), change black color to the feground. And swipe the brush to the model area that will be hidden.

9. move to the New York city Vector mask Layer, and wipe the brush as on step 8, but now we will use White color. The white color useful for show up the hidden picture.

10. In this step you need to trim the part of the picture thats need to be hidden or show up.

11. To combining the color, you can try the setting color on the New Fill Icon. The place is beside Add Vector Mask Icon.
